Gilded in Glamour: Transformed with Gold, Colour & Pattern
@interiorcurve Siobhan Murphy brings her signature maximalist magic to a Hollywood-inspired dressing room—teaming up with Lucia-Kreate to layer Jubilee Verdigris, gilded finishes, and bold decorative detail in a space that celebrates glamour, confidence, and creative expression.
Inside A Maximalist Hollywood Dressing Room

Few interiors whisper subtle, and then shout fabulous! like a space imagined by Siobhan Murphy of Interior Curve. For her latest project, she teamed up with creative talent Lucia-Kreate to transform a dressing room into a jaw-dropping scene of Hollywood glamour, gold, and unapologetic maximalism.
The result? A space where vintage movie-star magic meets fearless modern expression with Guild Lane paints and Orac Decors architectural mouldings playing starring roles.
After years of dreaming, pinning, and scheming, I've finally brought my vision of the ultimate Hollywood dressing room to life and let me tell you, she's definitely not shy, says Siobhan.

Tip: If you're painting trim, mouldings or coving, prep and adhesion matter as much as the paint. Clean thoroughly, lightly abrade glossy surfaces, and prime where needed for a smooth, durable finish.

Built-In Beauty: an IKEA Pax Wardrobe, But Make It Hollywood
At the heart of the transformation is the trusty IKEA Pax wardrobe system practical, yes, but we didn't leave it looking flat-packed for long.
To give it a fully built-in feel, we used decorative mouldings and traditional coving, all of which I lovingly painted in Guild Lanes gold to dial up the Old Hollywood opulence.
We custom-built arches around each unit and added a bespoke dressing table, turning the structure into a showstopping centrepiece.
With Guild Lanes Super GILD Gold Metallic, the finishing touches on the Orac Decor features shine literally. From the mirror surround to the Hollywood bulbs, everything is gilded, glowing, and gorgeously intentional.
How to get the built-in IKEA Pax look (high-level steps)
- Plan your layout with the IKEA Pax system and secure units safely to the wall.
- Add coving and decorative mouldings to create depth and a built-in frame.
- Build or fit arches around each unit to soften the geometry and add that Hollywood curve.
- Fill, sand, and prime thoroughly (especially over glossy surfaces) for a flawless finish.
- Paint your architectural details in Super GILD Gold Metallic, then add a second coat where you want maximum depth and reflectivity.

A Maximalist Cocktail
The colour palette is a maximalist's cocktail: Verdigris green, coral pinks, burnt oranges, and lashings of gold.
I used Jubilee Verdigris by Guild Lane, a shade I fell in love with on a previous project. It's rich, characterful, and has just the right vintage tint to anchor the glam without overpowering it.
From the wardrobe drawers to the bold built-ins, Jubilee Verdigris sets the tone, lush, expressive, and quietly commanding. It pairs beautifully with Lucia's styling touches and eye for balance, bringing grounded elegance to the bold mix.
The wardrobe drawers were painted to match, and for a little surprise-and-delight moment, I even wallpapered inside them in leopard print. And the jewellery drawers, painted with Super GILD Gold Metallic.

Pattern, Personality & Palm Tree Light
From the moment you step into the space, your eye is drawn to the layers of pattern and texture that bring the dressing room to life. Every surface has been considered not just for function, but for storytelling.
The wardrobe doors? Wallpapered in my own Blossom Fandango art deco-inspired wallpaper, a medley of fans, feathers and full-on maximalism.
Even the chrome Hollywood bulbs were given the golden touch. I had a bespoke mirror cut to fit my vanity area perfectly, framed by those now-golden Hollywood lights for the ultimate getting-ready glow-up.
Its this kind of detail the extra, the unexpected that makes the space sing. With styling support from Lucia, the room leans fully into fantasy, where every corner tells a story and no element is left untouched. Together, they created a space that feels immersive, theatrical, and unapologetically bold.
When it came to styling, I didn't hold back. A leopard lips sofa (yes, it's as fabulous as it sounds) adds sass and seating, while a gold palm tree light throws glorious shadows that feel straight out of a Slim Aarons photograph. The leopard and floral rug by Wendy Morrison grounds the space with pattern and punch.

A Space Worth Dressing Up For
This isn't just a beautifully styled room its a celebration of self-expression. Here, dressing becomes a ritual, creativity meets confidence, and fashion lives proudly on display.
And of course, no Hollywood dressing room would be complete without a maximalist wardrobe to match the setting. Think rails dripping in kaftans, sequins, statement dresses, and playful accessories a space not just to get ready, but to celebrate dressing itself.
With Lucia-Kreate's creative energy layered into the mix, this project sings with personality and polish. It's a masterclass in bold interiors and a reminder that great design is both artful and fearless.
