Bleo is a water-based, gel paint designed to soak into porous materials rather than sit on the surface. It behaves somewhere between a paint and a stain, allowing colour to tint and soften surfaces while preserving their natural character.
Bleo is ideal for softening dark or heavy timber tones. The surface must be porous for the colour to soak in, so light sanding or preparation may sometimes be required. When applied as a colour wash to porous wood, it gently lightens the tone while allowing the natural grain to remain visible.
Often yes. If the surface is porous or prepped, Bleo can refresh and rebalance dated wood tones without aggressive sanding or stripping.
Not usually. Bleo is ready to use straight from the bottle. It can be diluted with water if you want a lighter colour wash or a more transparent effect, although a stronger dilution will create a softer, more subtle finish.
A soft synthetic brush works well for most surfaces. For fabric or larger areas, a roller or sponge can also be used to apply a soft wash of colour.
One coat will tint the surface with a subtle wash of colour. Additional coats can deepen the tone while still allowing the underlying texture to show through.
