How to paint plastic

Plastic is smooth, so the key is giving the paint something to grip.

  1. Clean and degrease

Remove dirt, dust and grease, then dry thoroughly.

  2. Key the surface

Lightly sand shiny plastic with 120–180 grit. On PVC and very glossy plastics, use a primer.

  3. Test a patch

Check the colour and how it grips on a small, hidden area first.

  4. Thin, even coats

Let each coat touch dry before the next. Jubilee and Super GILD are touch dry in about 30 minutes.
